Christmas in Boston [Dec. 17th, 2011|12:26 am]
The Boston Livejournal Community

Thought I would share this as opposed to letting it vanish into my computer.  This is the gate to the Old State House.  I was heading to Suffolk University for some paperwork for a job abroad.  It is an HDR image.  There are more here, its a little online mag that I run if you care to check out more Boston / Christmas photos.  Some of them did not come out that well, but others look pretty decent if I do say so myself.

Home cleaners? [Jun. 6th, 2011|07:41 pm]
The Boston Livejournal Community

I've got a 700 square foot condo out in Norwood i'm trying to put on the market ASAP so I can move into town with my wife. It is in need of a good scrubbing, and, frankly, I'm not up to the task. Anyone know a home cleaner who can a) come out to Norwood. b) Do so on relatively short notice. c) be flexible with time (am on 9:30 to 6:00 work schedule) d) Clean it.

taking up less space cutCollapse )

Sat, 7/10 - International headliner THE SPIRITUAL BAT @ The Cantab [Jul. 5th, 2010|06:57 am]
The Boston Livejournal Community

Less than one week from now, on Saturday evening, July 10th, DJ Mätthew Griffin & Dark Sky Productions will present the Lowlands U.S. Tour, featuring The Spiritual Bat (from Italy), Sullen Serenade (from Texas),
Dreamchild (from the realms of Grand Guignol-inspired gore and dark drama) and Amber Spyglass (from nearby, but hypnotically taking you far away), all at Club Bohemia at the Cantab Lounge.

The Cantab is located in Central Square at 738 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA. The doors will open at 8 PM. The show is 21+, with an admission fee of a mere $10.00 – but tickets may be obtained for $8.00, in advance. Respond to this email if you wish to purchase some from Dreamchild...

At this not-to-be-missed event, Frank & Cheryl of Dreamchild will be performing their own arrangement of Nico’s Janitor of Lunacy, with Cheryl singing in Nico’s distinctive vocal range, but also expanding to an octave below, and soaring an octave-and-one-half above! This show will also offer the premiere of Catherine’s Haunts, a new Dreamchild song about the tempestuous and twisted passion of Heathcliff and Catherine (continuing even after death), a harp piece (only ever performed live once before), inspired by an absinthe vision of Oscar Wilde’s – and another, entirely unexpected cover song, over-the-top and wildly dramatic.

The marvelous and melodic Amber Spyglass will take the stage at 9 PM, followed by the theatrical insanity of Dreamchild at 10-ish, then Italy’s The Spiritual Bat at 11-ish (in the band’s first Boston appearance!), with Texas’ Sullen Serenade closing the night with a flourish. Whilst there, the Cantab has suggested that you might want to quench your thirst with a something from the bar, as you also drink in the marvelous sounds and riveting sights. So...do not be late, and take in all that your senses will allow!

Music of Ethereal Nightmares & Fever Dreams

Sleeping Flowers, Severed, Scream of Slaughter, Dreamchild’s double CD on Absinthe Soundworks, is currently available at:

Genes and Machines coming to the Boston area [May. 14th, 2010|12:46 pm]
The Boston Livejournal Community

"Genes and Machines" is the latest project from the mind of Leon Gruenbaum. The group explores the intersection and collision between man/woman and machine, performing music which ranges from dreamy/ambient to rock/funk, etc., with a focus on unusual and meticulously crafted electronic sounds. In the full version all parts are performed live.

Mr. Gruenbaum conceived of the world's first relativistic music keyboard, a patented MIDI controller called the Samchillian Tip Tip Tip Cheeepeeeee. He has recorded and performed internationally with this instrument with guitarist Vernon Reid (Living Colour), James Blood Ulmer and others.

While Genes and Machines is based in New York, Leon is returning to his old stomping grounds here in the Boston area, where he grew up and graduated with a degree in Mathematics from Harvard.

Local legend Leon Rich, dubbed “Boston’s answer to Frank Zappa” (http://www.leonrich.com) and ethereal outfit Faebotica (http://www.myspace.com/faebotica) will be special guests with Genes and Machines on May 29th at the Arlington Center for the Arts, located at 41 Foster Street adjacent to the Gibbs School in Arlington.

Advance tickets are $10 and are available via PayPal secure online purchasing via dark_sky_anders@yahoo.com .

The show is all-ages and runs from 7-10 PM.
